For the Generation Zs in South-east Asia and China, SYNESTUDIO is a multi sensory experience that provides new way of feeling and understanding fashion in new light through the lens of synesthesia, because fashion with bespoke music and art as part of the process is novel, so I believe that this experience will enrich the lives of the Gen Z population. SYNESTUDIO will also feature an online forum for people to share their thoughts, ideas and works, providing an avenue for the unspoken voice of Gen Z. This community aims to reinvigorate the arts scene in the region, and bringing people from across multiple arts discipline together as a community.
Brand Story
The distance between an artist and a fashion designer could be closer. Synestudio seeks to close the gap between the visual arts, fashion and even with music, in order for consumers to experience fashion more meaningfully. This inspiration first came from my discovery of a musical disorder called Amusia that appears mainly as a defect in processing pitch but also encompasses musical memory and recognition. People who suffer from this disorder would possibly lose the ability to sing and to play musical instruments. In some severe cases, they may lose the ability to hear others’ intonation, and this will disable them to sense other’s emotions via daily communication. And correspondingly, they may lose the ability to express themselves using their own intonation since they cannot express themselves by dominating their pitch. Inspired by this condition, this makes me think about the struggles of being unable to express one’s thoughts and emotions. With that, we decide to use another condition called synesthesia to help them overcome this condition. Synesthesia refers to a neurological condition in which sensory perceptions are conflated, with one sense tripping another. It is a phenomenon in which additional perceptual experiences are elicited by sensory stimuli or cognitive concepts. Synestudio is a multidisciplinary approach to realize synesthesia, which aims to bring public awareness to the beauty of synesthesia, and through that, enabling the unheard voices of Generation Zs in South-east Asia and China to have an avenue to express their art into fashion.
Product & Service
Synestudio specializes in transforming sounds and music to visual arts, and further developing it into digital fashion products. We provide additional services on top of our products to consumers because the focus of our brand is to provide people with a synesthesia experience. Product wise, we make music seen, this is done by transforming music into art prints and digital fashion and filters. The art prints and digital fashion products are sold as NFTs, and the filters are available for unlimited use once the consumers purchased the product. The art prints are updated continuously, keeping up with the current music trends, and the digital fashion products are restricted to two collections per year using Synestudio’s own music. To share their thoughts and works on their synesthesia experience, users can post on the websites forum. Selected works will be bought by the company to be part of the art print collection. People can purchase the art print and music license through the website. Additionally, we accept custom orders for customers to produce their own unique art prints.
